We pay for certain claims when you have run out of savings so you don't have to
The Major Medical Expenses Benefit is your safety net when you run out of your Medical Savings Account and you haven't reached your Threshold yet. You would ordinarily need to pay for these claims from your pocket, but on MultiChoice Medical Aid Scheme, a wide range of claims will be paid during this gap. Screening Benefit
The Screening Benefit covers a range of screening healthcare services to keep you healthy. We help make your Medical Savings Account last longer by paying for your Screening Benefit from the Major Medical Expenses Benefit.
Exceptional chronic medicine cover
You don't have to meet all kinds of complicated consecutive criteria to qualify for the Chronic Illness Benefit. All you need to do is send us an application form for your ongoing medicines which are prescribed for three months or longer. We will pay this from your Chronic Illness Benefit and it won't affect your normal day-to-day benefits. At this stage, the Scheme does not apply a formulary.
Preventative Benefit
We believe in vaccinating against diseases and preventative screening tests because we want you and your family to stay healthy and avoid serious illness.
Control of your day-to-day medical spending
The Medical Savings Account empowers you to make informed choices about how much you spend on your day-today healthcare. Any unused savings funds get carried over to the next year - unlike traditional plans where unused cover is lost.
Access to specialised medicine
We provide you with access to exceptional advances in medicine technology. These specialized medicines are very high in cost, such as biologics. Each application is individually and independently reviewed to ensure you receive cover based on the merit of your case. You have some of the richest cancer benefits of any medical scheme in South Africa.
Medical cover wherever you are
Cover is provided for emergency medical evacuations. Discovery 911, supported by ground staff, provide medical support and air evacuation in extreme critical cases. The emergency helicopters operate in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
